Barun Roy joins the University of North Bengal as an Assistant Professor in a substantive post

This is indeed a significant milestone in the Department’s 13-year-old history. Within a month after he submitted his doctoral thesis, PhD scholar Barun Roy was selected early this month as an Assistant Professor (regular position)in the Department of Mass Communication, North Bengal University, a prestigious government University in West Bengal. Barun finished his doctoral study on stringers — the unsung journalists—within a record time of two years and two months. His ethnographic fieldwork, carried out in Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts when the Corona crisis was at its peak in 2020-21, was published in Journalism — a prestigious Sage Journal with an impact factor as high as 4.361. That by itself was no mean achievement. Barun carried out his PhD work under the supervision of Dr Manoj Kumar Das. Congratulations, Barun for making the Department proud. You indeed deserved the coveted job. Wish you the best in all your future endeavours.
